اصطلاحات

هل تريد .. ?Would you like

يستعمل هذا الاصطلاح عادة مع صديق حميم، او مع افراد العائلة، وكثيرا ما يستعمل في الفنادق والمطاعم.

فقد يخاطبك السفرجي في الصباح قائلا:

Would you like to have your breakfast now?

هل تريد أن تتناول فطورك الآن؟

أفضل .. I'd rather – I would rather

يستعمل هذا الاصطلاح للتعبير عن شيء نفضله.

I'd rather go to the mountains

أفضل أن أذهب اليى الجبال

قلب المدينة، أو مركز العمل في المدينة .. Downtown

He was downtown

كان في المدينة

كمية من، أو قدرا من، ويعني كثيرا من .. A lot of

يمكن استعمال هذا التعبير مع جميع الاسماء التي تعد مثلا:

A lot of friends

عدد من الاصدقاء

أو مع الأسماء التي لا تعد، مثلا:

A lot of coffee

كمية من القهوة

A lot of time

قدرا من الوقت

حالا أو فورا .. Right away

When I finish work

عندما انهي عملي

I go home right away

اذهب الى البيت فورا

Had better .. من الأفضل

يستعمل هذا الاصطلاح في اللغة الانجليزية، ليسدي نوعا من النصيحة، مثلا:

You had better go home

من الأفضل لك أن تذهب الى البيت

 محادثة الانجليزية

في هذه المحادثة، والدة نبيل تهيء طعام الافطار للعائلة، عندما ينزل نبيل الى الطابق السفلي ويحدثها عن نزهة قام بها مع اصدقائه.

Nabil:           morning, mother. Is it really a quarter to eight? My watch must be slow again.

Mrs A.:           no, this clock's a few minutes fast. Now sit down and have your breakfast. Your orange juice is on the table, and I'll have your coffee ready in a minute. Would you like some cereal or an egg?

Nabil:           I think I'd rather have an egg, please. I'm getting tired of cereal. Where's Dad? Isn't he down yet?

Mrs A.:           He left half an hour ago. He said he had a lot of work to do, so he took the early train downtown. Where did you go yesterday?

Nabil:           I, and some friends went on a sight seeing boat, and from the deck of the boat, we could see the cliffs nearby, and the high mountains which were covered by trees.

Mrs. A.:        I see! By the way, where is your suitcase? Your father asked me about it before he left this morning.

Nabil:           What a pity. I lost it when we were standing in a queue, before getting into the boat.

Mrs. A:         Never mind, go and call your brother and sister. I woke them up at seven o'clock, but I don't suppose they got up right away. They are probably getting dressed.

Nabil:           Don't worry; it's natural on such a day. But they must be here right now, because some friends are waiting for me at the station.

 شروحات لغوية .. ترتيب الكلمات في جملة اللغة الانجليزية

يجد الطالب الأجنبي والذي يتعلم اللغه الانجليزيه كلغة ثانية، بعض الصعوبات في ترتيب الكلمات في الجملة، وخاصة اذا حاول ان يترجم من لغته الخاصه الى اللغه الانكليزية.

ولكن هناك ترتيب اساسي لا بد من اتباعه عند تركيب الجملة وهو اولا المبتدأ أو الفاعل Subject ثم الفعل Verb ثم المفعول به Object ثم باقي كلمات الجملة. مثلا:

I (s) drink (v) coffee (o) in the morning

اشرب قهوة في الصباح.

I (s) don't want (v) an apple (o)

لا اريد تفاحة.

ويمكن أن تنتهي الجملة بحرف جر Preposition وخاصة اذا استعمل فيها اسم موصول Relative pronoun مثل:

That

They are the people that

I telephoned to

I spoke to

I waited for

I played with

I worked for

وكذلك فإن الجملة ممكن أن تنتهي بحرف جر عندما تبدأ باداة استفهام، مثلا:

What  are you looking for?

Where did you go to?

Who were you walking with?

ومن الممكن ان تنتهي الجملة بفعل في حالة التعجب :

There we are!

There it is!

How quickly he drives!

How cold the weather is!

ضع حروف الجر المناسبة
